About us:

Villa Maria is 100% family-owned and is New Zealand’s Most Awarded winery. For the last four consecutive years Villa Maria has been named in the top ten most admired wine brands and number one in New Zealand by Drinks International. Our brands includes wine from Villa Maria, Vidal Estate, Esk Valley, Thornbury, Te Awa and Leftfield. You will have the opportunity to work in a fabulous Cellar Door that showcases a collaboration of some of New Zealand’s most premium wine brands.

About the Role:

We are seeking a permanent Cellar Door Assistant to work within our Cellar Door at our beautiful Ihumatao vineyard in Auckland. Reporting to our Cellar Door Manager, you will be responsible for encouraging sales to our large customer base and promoting the Villa Maria Cellar Door experience.

Your days will be busy, filled with customers popping into the Cellar Door after enjoying a meal at our busy vineyard café, or visiting purely for the cellar door experience.  Between customers, you will be processing phone and email orders and will be responsible for ensuring our shop looks fantastic. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Holding vineyard tours and group tastings
  • Merchandising and setting up displays
  • Looking after stock rotations

About you:

We are looking for a vibrant personality coupled with a strong interest in wine and a willingness to learn. Flexibility and adaptability will also help as no two days run the same, and you may be called to assist in the café and events on occasions, including being part of the Villa Maria Summer Concert Series.  It would also be an advantage if you could speak Mandarin or Cantonese as well as English. Other key qualities we are looking for:

  • Must have Duty Manager Certificate
  • Previous experience in the wine industry
  • Computer literacy
  • A reliable mode of transport is required

If this role sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

Please only apply if you are eligible to legally work in New Zealand permanently.
